The Origin Of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving Day originated in the United States. In the strory that Americans were in danger when they were exploring the North America, the local Indians helped them overcome difficulties, Thanksgiving is a celebration held to thank the Indians for their kind help.
On Thursday in late November 1621, the Pilgrims and 90 Indians with Massassoad together, they celebrate the first Thanksgiving in American history. Many celebration ways were created and have been passed down to this day.
The Meaning Of Thanksgiving
The meaning of Thanksgiving tells us the beauty of human nature. It embodies the meaning of gratitude from many aspects and levels. Activities In Thanksgiving Day
1. Shopping
In America and most countries, people will shopping at Thanksgiving Day to celebrate with family before the Black Friday. The Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving Day, at that day, may shopping malls and stores will have big discounts to increase their sales before the end of the year. It is also the last promotion for most shopping malls and stores at the end of this year.
2. Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving Dinner is the most important dinner in the year for western contries, the food of this dinner is particularly rich. Turkey and pumpkin are must-haves on the table. In addition, there are also sweet patatoes, cornstarch, red plum jam and other delicacies etc.
3. Play Games
After the Thanksgiving Dinner, families will play some traditional games. Like dancing, Cranberry races, corn games, pumpkin races, custime parades, comedy shows etc.
4. Outing
Except above activities, some families will go outing by car, or travelling by air. To relax themselves and talk with each other, people will take this chance to have a vacation with family together.
5. Parade
The Thankgiving parade is begin the year 1924, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is the largest Thanksgiving celebration in the United States, held on the fourth Thursday of November every year.
